Many women and men, who do not live in a monastery seek to be close to our way of life. When they have decided to take the Rule of Saint Benedict as the basis for their life, they might become oblates. After a probation time, Oblates are associated with the monastery by a special promise:
“In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. I (name) offer myself to Almighty God through the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Holy Father Benedict as an oblate of the abbey of Saint Joseph at Gerleve and promise to dedicate myself to the service of God and humanity according to the Rule of Saint Benedict.”
We have regular meetings for the oblates of our monastery. A monk of the abbey looks after the oblates.
Please read more about the benedictine oblates.
